rmvb plugin for Windows Media Player Mobile ＆ XScale(PXA27x)
CPUがXScale(PXA27x)のデバイス＆Windows Media Player Mobileで、rmvbファイルを再生するためのプラグインが公開されていました。
A plugin for Windows Media player, can play rm/rmvb media files on your WM device, even directly without convertion.
公開後まもなく、Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazineの Menneisyys氏がレビューをUPされていました。
No, don’t think everything is OK now. The plug-in, while it’s indeed compatible with RMVB videos, won’t play back the currently available, high(er)-res videos without severe slowdowns. As it’s only “old” RM videos that are, generally, encoded at low (say, QVGA at max) resolutions and RMVB files are, generally, encoded with the width of at least 576 pixels, you will encounter very choppy (2…5 fps even on the fastest devices) playback.
rm/rmvbファイルでも、実際に全て再生できるというものでもなかったとのこと。パフォーマンス面でもちょっと厳しい？ような感じでしょうか。
Mplayerの時もそうでしたが、Menneisyys氏はこの手のものに対してかなり積極的ですね。各所のForumにも同じ内容のレビューをUPされていました。
RealPlayer本家からRealOne Player for PocketPCは一応まだDLできますが、このページへは今現在のRealPlayer for Mobileページからはもう辿れないような状態＆RealVideo9までのサポートでストップしてますので、rmvbを再生する手段の第一歩として、今後の展開にも繋がればよいのかなぁと思います。(問題が色々あるとしても、Menneisyys氏が「Don't run downloading it - it's pretty crappy.」とコメントされていたのを見たときは、うーん・・まだ公開されたばかりなのに・・と思わなくもなかったもので(^^;)
