FreeOTFE is a free, open source, "on-the-fly" transparent disk encryption program for PCs and PDAs
Using this software, you can create one or more "virtual disks" on your PC/PDA. These disks operate exactly like a normal disk, with the exception that anything written to one of them is transparently, and securely, encrypted before being stored on your computer's hard drive.
Features include:

  • Source code freely available
  • Easy to use; full wizard included for creating new volumes
  • Both PC and PDA versions are available; data encrypted on your PC can be read/written on your PDA, and vice versa
  • No need to install it; making it ideal for use on USB memory drives, etc
  • It's powerful: Supporting numerous hash (including SHA-512, RIPEMD-160, Tiger) and encryption algorithms (including AES, Twofish and Serpent) in several modes (CBC, LRW and XTS) - providing a much greater level of flexibility than a number of other (including commercial!) OTFE systems
  • Encrypted volumes may either be file, partition, or even disk based
  • Much more!

今回、FreewarePPC.comさん所でアップデートが紹介されていて初めてこのツールを知りましたが、これだけのツールがフリーで使えるって、凄すぎです。すでにWindowsPC版をお使いの方とかいらっしゃるのでしょうね。
試しに自分のAd[es]にFreeOTFE4PDAをインストールして、microSDカードに暗号化仮想ドライブ用のボリュームファイルを作り、マウントしてみたところ、ちゃんと仮想ドライブとしてGSFinder+等から利用できるようになりました。コピーとか少し試した限りでは問題無さそうです。マウント時、結構時間がかかるのが少し気になる＆初めフリーズしたのかと思いましたが(汗、少し待てばマウント完了しますので、慌てずに(^^;。ディスマウントはすぐに終わります。
ボリュームマウント時用に、パスワードの設定の他、キーファイルを使用することもできるようです。
またボリュームファイル作成時、Windows版と共有したい場合は、Windows版のFreeOTFEからボリュームファイルを使ってくださいといったメッセージが出ましたが、これはFAQに

Q: I created my volume file using the PDA version of FreeOTFE and can mount it on my PC - but why does it keep asking if I want to format it?

A: When you created your volume on your PDA, your PDA fully formatted the volume as though it was a new device - not just a partition on a device.

In order for a volume to be mounted and used correctly on both a PDA and PC, it should be created and formatted using a PC as a FAT volume, and subject to the maximum volume size your PDA can support (see FAQ on volume sizes). This will ensure it can be read on all systems.

とありましたので上記に従ってWindowsPC版で作ればよいという感じでしょうか。暗号化もしっかりしてそうですし、母艦とWindowsMobileで共有できるのならかなり便利そうです。


結構需要がありそうなツールですし、どなたか母艦PC版含め、レビュー・紹介記事を書いて頂けると嬉しいです。(他力本願) あともちろん自己責任でお試しを(^^;
またこんなこと書くのも何ですが、日本の各種デバイスでの使用時に問題ないようでしたら、窓の杜や各ポータルサイトで取り上げるには格好のツールではないかと〜(^-^A;
